General Questions about the Youth Celebration

How old should my child be?
Most young people celebrate in 8th grade (ages 13–15). However, it is not a problem if your child is a little younger or older.

Does my child have to take part in preparation courses?
No. Participation in workshops and courses is voluntary and depends on interest and availability.

What costs are involved?
The participation fee is €99 (registration fee €40, ceremony fee €59). Guest tickets start at €15. More details are available on the Barnim and Oberhavel information pages.

Is financial support available?
Yes. We offer a social discount of €25 as well as a 15% discount on guest tickets. More information is available here (in German).

How many guest tickets can I get?
Each participant is guaranteed at least 6 guest tickets. The young people themselves do not need a ticket.

When will I receive information about ordering guest tickets?
After the summer holidays prior to the Youth Celebration year, we will send you our magazine by post with all information about guest tickets, schedule and offers.

The Ceremony

When does my child need to arrive on the day of the ceremony?
Please arrive about 30 minutes before the start – for last information, group photos and organisation.

How long does the ceremony last?
The event lasts about 60–70 minutes. Afterwards, there will be a small reception and the opportunity for family photos.

Can my child give a speech?
Yes – whether a speech, musical contribution or short performance – we welcome contributions. Please contact us in advance.

How accessible is the event?
Wheelchair spaces can be indicated when ordering tickets. Please inform us early of any special needs.

Will there be photos taken?
A professional photo team will be on site. Private photographers need a guest ticket. Aisles must remain clear during the ceremony.

Can my child use their smartphone?
During the official programme we ask for silence. After the ceremony there will be time for private photos and videos.
